PARA: President Elected—Martín Torrijos

ASUNTO: Congratulations on your victory in the recent elections—Nature
of Panamá

Dear Mr. President:

As a Belgian, having visited Panama several times, I would like to
point out that having beautiful rainforests and rich wildlife is not
something that should be taken for granted, but should be protected at all
costs. In Belgium, there is hardly any unspoiled nature left, it is very
sad. Panama is a paradise on earth, please keep it this way. Protecting
all remaining forests in Panama (Darién, Soberanía, Volcan Barú,...)
should be your number one priority.

Panama is becoming a top tourist destination for nature lovers. If you
protect the rainforest, there is infinitely more money to be made with
ecotourism than with the building of any road. I hope you will reverse
the horrible decision taken by the Moscoso government. If you love your
country, you protect its treasures!

Thank you for caring.

Cedric Kinschots
